This lady is off to Texas
I'm taking my moonboot and leaving Canada! Not for long though. I'll be back in ten days. And then... the moonboot is history!! Yay!
Anyways, today I'll take the train to Everett, Washington where I'll meet Anna Kristín. I'll stay with her for three nights and then it's Austin, Texas and my aunt Maja and her fam. I'll be wearing cowboy boots, a cowboy hat and a long straw in my mouth singing "There's a tear in my beer, 'cause I'm crying for you dear..."

Home
I had a chat with Helene and Torhild yesterday about our life here in Vancouver. We've only been here a little over a month but already we have homes, routines and a day-to-day life like we had back home. It's actually quite amazing how fast you settle in. Too some degree this is a good thing. It means that I'm not spending an obscene amount of money like I'm on holiday. Shopping is also kind of boring when you have a broken leg. Yet I have managed to buy shoes while having a broken leg, which supports my theory of me being the Pete Doherty of shopping... But the downside of settling in so fast is that you kind of forget that you're in a new city. This is something I think team 12 should remind itself more of. Maybe we're spending way too much time on our projects and forgetting that fact that we can learn so much from the city itself. Just a thought.
Today is my wonderful mothers, Guðrún Júlíusdóttir, birthday. Ég elska þig, mamma mín og til hamingju enn og aftur með daginn!
Here is a video some of my classmates made about our homebase. I like it. I like it a lot. (It know the youtube window looks weird on my blog, just blends in with the background. The reason for this is a mistery to me. Computer savvy peeps can leave a comment with their helpful expertise...)

I never would have thought but...
Saint Patrick's Day is HUGE here. Right now it's 12.28 and there is a huge parade outside my window. It's been going on forever it seems and the noise, oh the noise. Oh, well. Go Ireland!
I can now walk without crutches. Yay! It's been two weeks since I broke my leg and I'm seriously counting down the days until I get rid of the hideous moonboot I have to wear. The grand day is set for April 13th. Friday, April 13th. So maybe I should be extra careful that day...
I went to Paola's 25th birthday party last night. It was great. Everyone tried on my moonboots and some of the boys put on our gift for Paola, shorts and a tank top from American Apparel. Here are a few pics and there are more on my flickr.

The good, the bad and the uuu... UNLUCKY

I have some good news and some bad news. Let's start with the bad. I broke my leg on Friday. I have a fracture in two place in my foot, somewhere close to the little toe. I have to wear a hideous moonboot for the next six weeks and now I'm also on crutches. It all happened at our homebase. So, the last days I have been extremely down. I kind of felt like the next six weeks would be so shitty and I basically just wanted to go home. But thankfully I have some very good friends here that have made it all a lot easier. Thanks, you guys, I'm soooo grateful! And now I'm getting more used to using the crutches, even though it hurts like hell in all the muscles I usually don't use when I walk. So, send me some healing vibes:) And possibly an e-mail (takk Brynja mín fyrir tölvupóstinn. Það er svar á leiðinni:*)

The good news is that Torhild, Peter and I have an apartment!!! We're moving on Tuesday. This is how we are living now at the YWCA. Fancy, huh;) And this is what we're going to have. I'm really looking forward to it, in fact I can hardly wait.
Last week we went to Vancouver Island and stayed in a lovely town called Tofino. It's a huge summer resort where people surf and it's BEAUTIFUL. Unfortunately I got the flu on the way so I was out of action for most of the time. I've been a bit unlucky as you can probably tell...
Sorry about the lack of blogging but I promise to get my act together. The connection here is shitty so I'll post pictures later.
P.s. I went to an ice hockey game... and I loved it. You can see a video on Torhild's blog from the game.
